NYCUM, Walter Scott
Walter Scott Nycum, 40, Route 3, Valley Road, died this morning in Allegany Hospital where he was admitted Friday. He had been in failing health for some time. Born in Pittsburgh, Mr. Nycum was a son of George and Lavina (Crawford) Nycum. He served in the European Theater with the Engineer Corps during World War II. Mr. Nycum was a member of Henry Hart Post No. 1411, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Cumberland Lodge No. 271, L.O.O. Moose; Cresaptown Aerie No. 2883, F. O. Eagles, and the Bowman's Addition Volunteer Fire Company. Surviving, besides his parents, are his widow, Mrs. Nellie (Seifers) Nycum; one son by a former marriage, Carl Wayne Nycum, Baltimore Pike; two brothers, Paul and Lloyd E. Nycum, Bowman's Addition, and four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Ault and Mrs. John McDonald, this city; Mrs. Ellsworth Paris, Mt. Solon, Va., and Mrs. Lewis Donohue, Bowman's Addition. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p. m. in Fairview Christian Church by Rev. Walter M. Twigg. Interment will be in Fairview Christian Cemetery.
