FRADISKA, Mrs. Ann Laughlin, nee Miller

Mrs. Ann Laughlin Fradiska, 84, of 104 Dove Drive, Brighton Township, a former Cumberland resident, died June 16 in the Medical Center of Beaver County, Pa., Brighton Township. Her husband, Joseph M. Fradiska, died in 1955. She was born June 20, 1896, in Mount Savage, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Noonan) Miller. A former resident of Cumberland, she was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Beaver, Pa., and the Altar and Rosary societies of the church. Surviving are two sons, Joseph T. Laughlin, Chardon, Ohio; and Frank J . Laughlin, Brighton Township, with whom she resided; a step-son, J. Brooke Fradiska, LaVale; two sisters, Mrs. Ursula Dougherty, Ridgeley, and Mrs. Jean Kalbaugh, New Brighton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Friday in SS. Peter and Paul Church, New Brighton, and interment was in Beaver Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Fradiska, 74, widow of Michael Fradiska, 411 Valley street, who died yesterday at Allegany Hospital, will be conducted at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 9 a. m., Wednesday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are two sons, Joseph M. and John H. Fradiska; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert L. Gillard, and Miss Margaret, all at home; a brother, John W. Beck, McKeesport, Pa.; and a sister, Mrs. Fred W. Knieriem, this city; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Annetta Fradiska, 77, widow of George Fradiska, 453 Henderson Avenue, died this morning in Sacred Heart Hospital. Born at Gilpintown, she was a daughter of the late John and Amanda (Willison) Elbin.  Mrs. Fradiska was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, Pride of Allegany Council 110, Daughters of America, and the Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are three sons, Fran and Edward Fradiska, both of this city, and Daniel Fradiska, Bowling Green; four daughters, Mrs. E. Leo Barley, this city; Mrs. Thomas J. Gilmurray, Bayside, VA.; Mrs. Joseph McKechnic, Baltimore, and Mrs. William E. Raupach, Bowling Green; a brother, Edward Elbin, Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Kathryn E. Craig, Des Moines, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body is at the Hafer Funeral home where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Pride of Allegany Council will conduct services at the funeral home tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home by Rev. Frank J. Fratto(?) and interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Flintstone.

Edward Michael Fradiska, 62, of 438 North Mechanic Street, died today in Sacred Heart Hospital. Born here, he was the son of George and Anita Elbin Fradiska. Mr. Fradiska was a retired brewery worker and a member of Aerie 245, Order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Virginia R. Maley Fradiska, one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Walker, Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Francis L. and P. Daniel Fradiska, both of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Anna F. Barley, city; Mrs. Martha Kilmurry, Bayside, Va.; Mrs. Ruth McKechnie, Baltimore; Mrs. Regina Raubach, St. Petersburg, Fla., and three grandchildren. Leasure-Stein Funeral Home.

FRADISKA, George J.

Four men were injured, two fatally, as the result of an automobile crash early Sunday morning at Lovers Leap Service Station, on the National Pike, a short distance west of this city. The car in which three men were riding struck a fourth man, side-swiped a parked machine, crashed into two poles, careened across the road and overurned. George J. Fradiska, aged 49, of 453 Henderson boulevard, passenger in the car, died in Allegany Hospital at 7:40 a. m. Sunday. He sustained a fractured skull and internal injuries. Fradiska is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fradiska, and seven children: Frank L., Edward M., Daniel L., Anna C., Martha M., Ruth E., and Regina F. He was a member of Cumberland Aerie, No. 245, F. O. Eagles. He was proprietor of a restaurant on Valley street. For some years he was connected with the restaurant of the late John J. Brooks opposite the City Hall. Mr. Fradiska. was a son of Mrs. Annie M. Fradiska and the late Michael Fradiska. He was a brother of Joseph M. Fradiska, well known in music circles; John H. Fradiska, Mrs. Hubert L. Gillard and Miss Margaret Fradiska. Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. tomorrow at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with interment in the church cemetery.

FRADISKA, George J.

Injuries Fatal To Father Of Seven
CUMBERLAND, Md., Aug. 21.—
George Fradiska, 49-year-old Cumberland father of seven, Sunday died of injuries received early this morning when riding in a car driven by Leo Palmer, was wrecked on the National Highway about two miles from here. Richard Payne, hit by Palmer's automobile while he was standing beside a parked car, was severely injured in the same accident. Jerome Creegan, another passenger in Palmer's car, is also in a hospital. Both are Cumberland men. Police, who arrested Palmer after the accident, said his car first hit Payne and the parked automobile, then crashed into two telephone poles, careened across the road and turned over. Palmer, a local barber, was only slightly hurt. He was jailed pending a coroner's inquest Monday.

Joseph Michael Fradiska, 67, of 15 Market Street, died early today shortly after being admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Cumberland, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Beck) Fradiska. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Fradiska was active in American Legion work, being a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13 and a former custodian of the post home. He was also a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Aerie 245, FO Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ann L. (Laughlin) Fradiska; a son, J. Brooke Fradiska, this city; two stepsons, Joseph J. and Francis J. Laughlin, both of Beaver, Pa., a brother, John H. Fradiska, city, and two sisters, Miss Marguerite Fradiska and Mrs. Catherine Gillard, both of this city. The body is at the Stein Funeral flome. A requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a. m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church and in- .erment'will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Fradiska was honored in 1939 at Annapolis when the Naval Academy Band presented a number in his honor, the occasion marking his service as director of the 29th Division Band-while serving in France during World War 1.

Margaret E. Fradiska, 78, of 639 Shriver Avenue, died today in Memorial Hospital. Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Horchler. Her husband, John H. Fradiska, preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, John A. Fradiska, Cresaptown, and Charles F. Fradiska, Cumberland; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Lehman, city; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is in the Stein Funeral Home.

Gooding, 11 Welsh street, after a lingering illness.  She was a daughter of the late Mrs. Mary Rafferty. She was a member of the Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Baltimore; the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Viola Louise Fraley, 73, of 109 Park Street, died yesterday in Sacred Heart Hospital where she was admitted January 30 after being injured in a fall at her home. A native of Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Almira (Long) Gerdeman. Her husband, Walter A. Fraley, Sr., died in 1945. Mrs. Fraley was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Pride of 440 Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and the auxiliary of Central YMCA. She is survived by a son, Walter A. Fraley, this city; a sister, Mrs. Mary Horchler, this city, and two grandchildren. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body is at the George Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the funeral.

LONACONING - William V. Fraley, 78, of Beechwood Street, died Sunday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born in Garrett County, he was a son of the late Valentine and Martha (Bittinger) Fraley. His wife, Nellie Mae (Knepp) Fraley, preceded him in death. He was a retired miner and a member of the Senior Citizens of Lonaconing. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Grover Broadwater, LaVale; Mrs. Leona Brown, Fort Ashby; Mrs. Esther Porter, Baltimore; one son, William Fraley, Frostburg; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Spiker, Frostburg; one brother, Phillip Frolich, Cumberland; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received at the Eichhorn Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, Frostburg. Rev. Arthur Evans will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at  noon tomorrow.

FROSTBURG - Mrs. Vilda P. Frank, 90, formerly of 65 Ormond Street, died Monday at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, where she had resided for six years. Born in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Louis Gingerich and Martha (Harden) Gingerich. Mrs. Frank's husband, Edgar H. Frank, died in 1968. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are one son, John E. Frank, La Vale; one daughter, Mrs. Martha Brant, Laurel, and one grandson. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Donald F. Sause. MOUNT SAVAGE — Annabelle Frankenberry, 76, of Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus. Born March 24, 1932, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Edward F. Malloy and Mary Luretta (Welsh) Malloy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde T. “Mike” Frankenberry, in 2005; and one sister, Rita F. Malloy. Annabelle was a homemaker and worked part-time at Potomac Valley Television. Mrs. Frankenberry was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Mount Savage, where she sang in the choir, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and past member of the VFW 6023 Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Tuesday Night Card Club for over 40 years and was an avid bingo player. Surviving are two sons, Michael E. Frankenberry and wife Rhonda, and James C. Frankenberry and wife Barbara, all of Mount Savage; five grandchildren, Christopher Frankenberry, Jill Frankenberry and fiancé Dustin Bittner, Tiffany Machnic and husband Evan, Megan Broadwater and Ryan Frankenberry; one sister, Mary Michaels, of LaVale; one great-grandchild, Payton Machnic; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. with Father Patrick Besel as celebrant. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Rick Robison, Steve Robison, Keith Robison, Tim Michaels, Gene Furlow Jr. and Frank Brode. Honorary pallbearer will be Rick Burkey.

Mt. Savage, April 15.—Mrs. Dorothy Frankenberry, 75, wife of Thomas L. Frankenberry, died last night at her home here after a lingering illness. Besides her husband, she is survived by 11 children: Samuel, Milnor, Mrs. William Kirby, Mrs. Albert Rice, Mrs. George Witt, Mrs. John Shaffer, Esther, James, Joseph and Charles, Mt. Savage; Harry and Edwin, Cresaptown, and one brother, Isaac Miller, Spring City. Pa. There are 44 grandchildren including David Gentry who had lived at the Frankenberry home since childhood.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mt Savage, Oct 24 - Milner B. Frankenberry son of Thomas Frankenberry. died this morning at his home, following an illness of three weeks. He was an employe of the Union Mining Company at the local brick plant and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Besides his father, he is survived by his wife. Mrs. Nonnie Frankenberry, and the following children; Thomas. Walter. Nonnie, Freda. William and Ellsworth Frankenberry, Mrs. Elwood McVicker and Mrs Clifton Weitzell and step-daughter, Mrs Herman Steele, all of Mt Savage. He was a brother of Harry and Edward Frankenberry, Creasaptown, Mrs William Kirby, Mrs George Wilt, Mrs Albert Rice, Mrs John Shaffer and Joseph, James, Samuel, Charles and Esther Frankenberry of this place. Six grandchildren also survive.

Pearl Elizabeth (Machin) Frankenberry, 94, of the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of Dutch Hollow Road, Mount Savage, died Friday, March 24, 1995, at the Frostburg Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1900, in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Machin and Mary Elizabeth (Martin) Machin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Frankenberry, in 1966, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Frankenberry was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of Saint George’s Episcopal Church. Surviving are two sons, Ray E. Frankenberry and wife Marian, Cresaptown, and Clyde T. “Mike” Frankenberry and wife Annabelle, Mount Savage; one daughter, Eleanor Robison, Mount Savage; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at Saint George’s Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Monday at 1 p.m. by Rev. Thomas Staup. Interment will be in Mount Savage United Methodist Cemetery.

FRANKENBERRY, William Howard

Private family services will be held for William Howard FRANKENBERRY, age 75 of Willoughby, Ohio. Mr. FRANKENBERRY was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Mount Savage, Md. and he lived in Willoughby for the past 50 years.  He died April 13, 2010 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a panel assembler for the former Bailey Controls in Wickliffe, OH. for 35 years before his retirement in 2000. Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Gwen (nee, CLACK);  children, Glenn (Marissa) RUDLOFF and Sandy RUDLOFF, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; Rex FRANKENBERRY of Willoughby and Roy (Shirley) FRANKENBERRY (Franks) of Wickliffe.; 13 grandchildren; and sisters, Marietta MCVICKER of WeekiWache, Florida and Freda PORTER of Winchester, VA. His son, Bob RUDLOFF passed away in Feb. 2010.  His parents, Milner and Noni FRANKENBERRY; and six brothers and sisters, are also deceased. Terra Alta, W. Va., March 16 - Mrs. Elizabeth A. Frankhouser, 73, widow of M. N. Frankhouser, of Cranesville, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maude Grove at Laytonville, Md. The body was brought here Friday to the home of another daughter, Mrs. Cloyd Friend. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Cranesville whence the funeral was held yesterday morning. Rev. A. Ryan, Brandonville and Rev. B. Anderson, Cranesville, officiated. Interment was in Cranesville Cemetery. Mrs. Frankhouser was a daughter of the late Notley and Susan Browning and a great great grand-daughter of Mesha Browning, who wrote “Forty-four Years of a Hunters’s Life.” She is survived by one brother, B. Frank Browning of Terra Alta, four sons, Reed, Clarksburg; Harry F. Morgantown, and Notley and Wade Frankhouser, Terra Alta and three daughters; Mrs. Maude, wife of Rev. D. B. Grove Laytonville; Mrs. Mabel DeWitt, Warren, Ohio and Mrs. Iva Friend, Terra Alta, and eighteen grandchildren.

FRANKHOUSER, Inez Eleanor Wolfe

Inez Eleanor Frankhouser, 90, of Bruceton Mills, died Friday, July 16, 2010, in the Monongalia General Hospital. She was born July 11, 1920, in Greenville, a daughter of the late Thurman and Flora Belle Everly Wolfe. She was a member of the Bruceton United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and spouse, Jean and Don Qualls, of Forrest City, AK, and Geri Carroll, of Bruceton Mills; a brother and spouse, Dale and Mary Wolfe, of Bruceton Mills; a sister, Maxine Thomas, of Kingwood; seven grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Frankhouser; four sisters and five brothers, Pearl Christopher, Walter Wolfe, Guy WoIfe, Vernice Gribble, Emma Swaney, Zora Graham, twins, Wilfred and Willard Wolfe, and Curtis Wolfe. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 20, at Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, with the Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating. Interment was in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bruceton. United Methodist Church, Bruceton Mills, WV 26525.

FRANKLAND, Mrs. Amanda Faunaught

Westernport - Mrs. Amanda Frankland, 82, widow of Lee Frankland, died yesterday at her home, 205 Vine Street, following an extended illness. A daughter of the late Isaac and Rebecca J. (Reed) Faunaught, she had resided here 70 years. Mrs. Frankland was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Piedmont. Surviving are five sons, Roy Frankland, Cumberland; Albert Frankland, Wingdale, N.Y.; Benjamin Frankland, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; Rollin Frankland, at home and Clyde Frankland, Westernport, and a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Sine, Cumberland. The body is at the residence where services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. L. E. Crowson, pastor of Trinity Church, and Rev. E. W. Welford, pastor of the Westernport Assembly of God Church. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery. The family requests flowers be omitted.

FRANKLAND, Arnold Roy

Arnold Roy Frankland, 64, of 546 Fairview Avenue, died last night at his home. A native of Westernport, he was a son of the late Leroy and Amanda Frankland and was employed at Sylvan Retreat. Mr. Frankland was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow, Marie (Boettner) Frankland; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Sine, this city, and four brothers, Benjamin Frankland, Fort Ashby, W. Va.; Albert Frankland, Wingdale, N. Y., and Rollin and Clyde Frankland, both of Westernport. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home. He was a veteran of World War 1. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p. m. by Rev. Carlton M. Harris, pastor of Centre Street Methodist Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

FRANKLAND, Donald William

HAGERSTOWN - Donald William Frankland, 62, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1992 at Washington County Hospital. Born February 13, 1930 in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of Freda A. (Goff) Frankland, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and the late Benjamin Heise Frankland. Mr. Frankland graduated from Fort Ashby High School and retired in 1969 as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he worked for the Department of the Navy and retired in June, 1992 as an Industrial Specialist. Mr. Frankland was raised in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Santa Clara, Calif., of the Amateur Ham Operators Club, Hagerstown, and the National Rifle Association. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Ann “Sue” (Russell) Frankland; two sons, Benjamin Donald Frankland, and Steve Lee Frankland, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Jack Frankland, Fort Ashby, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Fort Ashby Funeral Home Sunday. Services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, by the Rev. David Diehl. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Jack Leo Frankland, 62, of Fort Ashby, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, at Potomac Valley Hospital. Born March 21, 1934, in Keyser, he was the son of Freda (Goff) Frankland, Fort Ashby, and the late Benjamin Heise Frankland. He also was preceded in death by one son, James Andrew “Jimmy” Frankland, and one brother, Donald William Frankland. Mr. Frankland had served in the U.S. Navy. He retired earlier this year from the West Virginia State Roads where he had been an inspector. He was a member of the Mineral Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Brant) Frankland; one daughter, Jacqueline Ann Kyle, Fort Ashby; two sons, Jeffrey A. Frankland, Fort Ashby; Jay Anthony Frankland, Baltimore, and four grandchildren, Taryn Adams, Trey Adams, Apryl Frankland and Ashley Frankland. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, on Friday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

FRANKLAND, William E.

William E. Frankland aged 19 years, the youngest son of James L. Frankland, of Covington, Va., died Thursday night of last week at the University Hospital, Charlottesville, Va., of blood poisoning. He was taken to the hospital Sept. 17 to be operated on for appendicitis, and during the operation it was found that an abcess had formed around the appendix. Frankland was born in Westernport, Md.

Funeral of Mrs. A. Leo Franklin
The funeral of Mrs. Lelya Jordan Franklin, wife of Dr. A. Leo Franklin, was held this morning at 10 o'clock from the home, 32 Baltimore Avenue, where the Very Rev. Edward J Wunder, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, read the office for the dead. He made the commitment at the grave in St. Patrick' s cemetery. The pallbearers were: Rev Martin Luther Enders, Dr. William L. Burns. Fleming W. Burrows, Frank Lee Carl, Thomas B Kean and H T Mattingly.  The relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr and Mrs Edward Jordan and Frank Jordan, Norfolk, Va; the Messers Jordan being brothers of Mrs Franklin and Mrs Joseph L Franklin, Westminster, Md., and Mrs Fernand Bonnette, Baltimore, sisters of Dr Franklin and Miss Ethel Franklin.  Mrs Bonnette will spend the winter at the Franklin home.

Bruce Frantz, of Route 1, Friendsville, died Tuesday, August 29, at his residence. Born in Friendsville, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (Friend) Frantz. He was a member of Rush Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Nellie (Humberson) Frantz; three sons, Robert Frantz, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Owen Frantz, Friendsville; Carroll Frantz, Wadsworth, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Grove, Brunswick, Ohio; three brothers, Paul Frantz, Floyd Frantz, and Owen Frantz, all of Friendsville; 15 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services were conducted at the Newman Funeral Home in Friendsville at 2 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Richard Tepper and the Rev. H.B. Rittenhouse. Interment was in Blooming Rose Cemetery.

Dorothy Louise "Dottie" Frantz, 75, Morgantown, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Heritage Point, Morgantown. Born Nov. 22, 1935, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Owen and Ruth (Schroyer) Frantz. She was the granddaughter of the late Charles Thayer and Edith (Friend) Frantz and Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Elizabeth (Sterling) Schroyer. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Miss Frantz was an agricultural program specialist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 40 years, retiring on Oct. 3, 1994. Her first two years were as secretary in the Animal Husbandry Department of West Virginia University, and 38 years were spent with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services. She was a graduate of Northern High School, in the class of 1953, and Morgantown Business College. She attended West Virginia University, USDA Graduate School, and American University. At her request, her body was cremated, and a private graveside service will be scheduled at a later date. Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, was in charge of arrangements. FRANTZ, Hilda Lorraine Taylor

Hilda Lorraine Frantz, 81, of Eglon, died April 25, 2010, at home. She was born October 8, 1928, in Baltimore, a daughter of the late James Griffen and Mildred Lee Horlacher Taylor. She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren. She is survived by her sister, Lillian Cox, of Brooklyn Park, MD; five sons and spouses, Raymond and Dianne Frantz, of Farr West, UT, Donald and Neva Frantz, and Robert and Cathy Frantz, all of Eglon, David and Susan Frantz, of Martinsburg and James Frantz, of Prince Fredrick, MD; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond H. Frantz, Sr.; and two brothers, Joseph Stansbury and Gordon Taylor. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28, at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, with Pastors Gary Meeks and Debbie Strawser officiating. Interment was in Maple Spring Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Corp, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520.

FRANTZ, John E. M.

John E. M. Frantz died last night at the Western Maryland hospital, following a serious operation that had been performed upon him. When taken to the hospital his condition was so serious that there was little hope for his recovery and an operation was imperative. The deceased was 65 years old and resided for many ears at 307  North Centre street. He was well known to all the residents of North Cumberland. Besides his widow he is survived by the following children: William, Harry, Charles, Albert, Wlater[sic] and H. Frantz, and Misses Bessie, Bertha, Emma and Annie Frantz. Two brothers, Charles and William Frantz, and one sister Mrs. Brotemarkle, also survive. The funeral will take place Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence.

Mrs. Mary E. Frantz, 75, of 135 North Mechanic Street, died Monday in Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there for one week. Born in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Elizabeth Ann (Plummer) Meagher. Mrs. Frantz was retired from Miles Laboratory, Chicago, Ill. Surviving are her husband, Donald W. Frantz; one stepson, Carson Lee Frantz, Oak Lawn, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Nancy D. Kruizenga, Summit, Ill.; one brother, Howard O. Meagher, Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Emma McGregor, Cumberland, and seven grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

SWANTON - Michael Henry Frantz, 63, died yesterday at his home after an illness of 10 years. Born at Westernport, he was a son of Mrs. Hazel Frantz Kerns, Piedmont, and the late Wilbur Frantz. Mr. Frantz formerly was employed as a baker at McIntyre’s Baking Company and later operated a store in Swanton. He was a member of Swanton United Methodist Church and was secretary of Camp 10, WOW. Also surviving are his widow, Ildra (Friend) Frantz; a son, Michael C. Frantz, York, Pa., and three brothers, Leroy Frantz, Reno, Nev.; William Frantz, Piedmont; Gerald Frantz, Westernport, and two grandchildren. The body is at the John O. Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Swanton United Methodist Church by Rev. Oscar W. Hull and Rev. George W. Simpson. Burial will be in the George Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made ot the building fund of Swanton United Methodist Church.

Alaska, W.Va., Oct. 2 —
Mr. Carl Frase, aged 81 years, six months and 15 days, died at his home near Patterson’s Depot last week. Mr. Frase was a highly respected old gentleman and leaves to mourn his loss a wife and three sons, besides a host of friends and acquaintances. The remains were interred beside his son in the Frankfort cemetery, and the funeral was preached at his residence by a German minister from Cumberland. Mr. Frase came to this country from Germany with his family a number of years ago.

Mrs. Nettie Mae Frase, 74, widow of John Herman Frase, died yesterday at her home in Fort Ashby. Born July 10, 1880 in Mineral county, she was a member of Old Furnace Church of the Brethren. Her parents were the late Samuel and Lucy (Davis) Tipton. Surviving arc two daughters, Miss Margaret Frase, Washington, and Mrs. Henry Crosser, Hancock; a son, James Paul Frase, Frostburg; a foster son, William Frase, Fort Ashby; three sisters, Mrs. William Johnson and Miss Lena Tipton, city, and Mrs. Olive Moon, Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, Hunter Tipton, North Branch, and two grandchildren. The body will remain at the George Funeral Home until noon tomorrow when it will be taken to Fort Ashby Methodist Church for services at 2 o'clock. Rev. Alonza L. Harman and Rev. Jesse Whitacre will officiate, with burial in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
