IMAN, Virgil Harrison
SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Virgil Harrison Iman, 75, of Short Gap, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 29, 1994 at Memorial Hospital. Born July 18, 1918 in Davis, W.Va., he was the son of the late William H. Iman and Tabitha (Delawder) Iman. He was also preceded in death by his son, James H. Iman. Mr. Iman was retired from CSX Corporation in Cumberland, where he was employed for 39 years. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Short Gap, Short Gap Senior Citizens, the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Iman was an avid fisherman. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Iman was a tank gunner under General Patton serving with the 3rd Army and 4th Armored Division. Surviving are his wife, Rachel B. (Smith) Iman; daughter-in-law, Bonnie R. Iman, Short Gap; one granddaughter, Christa Tierney and husband Neil, Short Gap; one grandson, Darin H. Iman, Short Gap; two great-grandsons, Michael Tierney and Shawn Tierney, Short Gap; fo ur sisters, Betty Caldwell, Romney, W.Va.; Arbutis Kerns, Winchester, Va.; Helen Adams, Wolf Creek, Montana, and Veda Hose, Moorefield, W.Va. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown. Services will be conducted there Friday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Paul Burke. Interment will be at Fort Ashby Cemetery.
