Grantsville - One of the drivers in a two-car collision that killed five people Sunday suffered a heart attack just before the accident, Washington County (Pa.) Coroner Farrell Jackson ruled yesterday. A car being operated by Merle Kolb, 56, of Springs, Pa., probably crossed the center line of Pennsylvania Route 837 and slammed into the second car, Jackson said. However, police could find no eye witnesses to the accident at 4:13 p.m. Sunday on the rain-soaked road near Monongahela, Pa. Mr. Kolb and four other passengers in his car were killed. They were his wife, Maxine, 54; Mary Schrock, 60, of Springs; Ralph Kinsinger, 66, and his wife, Emma, 60, of Grantsville. Allen Schrock, 55, also a passenger in Mr. Kolb's car, was in guarded condition at Pittsburgh's Eye and Ear Hospital. The driver of the second car, Robert Barbe, 20, of Monongahela, was treated and released from Monongahela Hospital. The bodies were taken to the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville, where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A joint service will be conducted for the five victims on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Springs Mennonite Church. Rev. John Graybill will officiate. Mrs. Schrock, a native of Springs, was a daughter of the late Edwin and Elva (Gelnett) Kolb. She was a member of the Springs Mennonite Church. Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Randall Schrock, Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Short, Salisbury, Pa.; three brothers, Robert, Donald and Blair Kolb, all of Springs; a sister, Miss Bernice Kolb, Springs; and two grandchildren. Mr. Kolb was born in Springs, a son of the late Edwin and Elva (Gelnett) Kolb. He is survived by a son, Gerald Kolb, Saudi Arabia; three brothers, Robert, Blair and Donald Kolb, and a sister, Miss Bernice Kolb, all of Springs. Mr. Kolb was a member of the Salisbury Lions Club. Mrs. Kolb, also a native of Springs, was a daughter of the late Alvin and Margaret (Kime) Rodamer. Besides her son, Gerald, she is survived by three brothers, Clarence and Earl Rodamer, Springs, Harry Rodamer, New Kensington, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Hester Hays, Baltimore, and Mrs. Leota Meador, Merritt Island, Fla. Mr. Kinsinger was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Joel and Linnie (Custer) Kinsinger. Surviving are two sons, Owen Kinsinger, Grantsville, and Eugene Kinsinger, Star Route, Grantsville; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Humberson, Baltimore; two brothers, Roy and Paul Kinsinger, and a sister, Mrs. Martha Resh, all of Grantsville, and 10 grandchildren. His wife was born in Elk Lick Township, a daughter of the late Alvin and Amelia (Miller) Schrock. Besides their sons and daughter, and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Allen Shrock, and six sisters, Miss Alta Shrock, Grantsville; Mrs. Orpha Shrader, Miss Ada Shrock and Miss Elnora Shrock, RD, Salisbury; Mrs. Naomi Sigler, Frostburg, and Mr s. Evelyn Kaufman of Kansas. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery for Mr. and Mrs. Kinsinger. Mrs. Shrock, Mr. and Mrs. Kolb will be buried in Springs Cemetery. All of the victims were members of Springs Mennonite Church and their families have requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the church building fund.
