GRAFTON WV, Nov 11 - John W. Poe, who was found in the kitchen of his home at Thornton, near here, with a bullet wound in his head, supposed to have been self-inflicted, died yesterday. He was 64 years of age and is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter.

POINT, Mrs. Annie Layman

Grantsville, Md., Feb. 1 - Mrs. Annie Layman Point, 67, a native of Garrett county, and a widow of Frank Point, died at a hospital in Alta, Iowa, last Thursday.  A daughter of the late George [Louis] Layman, her early life was spent here and some forty years ago she moved to Newell, Iowa.  Mrs. Point is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hobby, Newell, Ia.; and Miss Esther Point, Washington, D.C.; two sisters and three brothers.  They are Mrs. Etta V. Engle, Grantsville; Mrs. Lee Stocker, Roundup, Mont.; Noval Layman and George Layman, Newell; and Harry Layman, Chicago.  Funeral services were held Sunday.

Charles Garland Poisal, husband of Mrs. Mary (Conroy) Poisal, former residents of this city, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Calk, Frederick and Rolling Roads, Catonsville, according to word received here today. Brief services will be held Friday at 9:30 a. m. at his daughter's residence and a requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a. m. in St. Mark's Catholic Church, Catonsville. Interment will be in New Cathedral Cemetery.

Poisal, 19 Camp Ground Road, LaVale, died Saturday night in Sacred Heart hospital where she had been admitted earlier in the day.  Born in the Winchester Road section, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Marley) Martz. Mrs. Poisal was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.  Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Carl W. Leasure, LaVale: three brothers, George and Fred Martz, both of LaVale, and Charles Martz, Sykesville; three sisters, Miss Lucille Martz, Sykesville: Mrs. Ralph Athey, Roberts Place, and Mrs. William Kuhlman, LaVale, and a grandson. The body is at the John J. Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, U. S. Route 40 and Braddock Road, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p. m and 7 to 9 p. m.  A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 a. m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home tomorrow at 8 p.m."

SOMERSET— Leo P Poisal, 54, formerly of Eckhart, Md., died Saturday in the County Hospital here.  He was a son of the late Charles G. and Mary C. Poisal. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary C. Poisal; two daughters, Dorothy Poisal, Johnstown and Mary Catherine Poisal, Waterford, Pa; a son, Lloyd Poisal of here; four sisters: Mrs Anna Mae Colk, Catonsville; Mrs. Louraine Scott, Mrs. Raphael George and Mrs Angela Coblentz, all of Baltimore; two brothers: Charles G Poisal, Allegany Grove and Joseph Poisal, Baltimore and four grandchildren. The body is at the Miller Funeral Home here. A requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a. m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Anna Madeline Poland, 83, formerly of 123 Front St., Westernport, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, where she had been a resident. Born Oct. 13, 1919, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Wallace and Anna Jeanette (Myers) Trenum. Her husband, Ernest Poland, a son, Dennis Poland, three sisters, Bernice Groome, Mary LaRue, and Kathryn Zsigh, two brothers, Michael W. Trenum and Ellsworth "Scotty" Trenum, also preceded her in death. Surviving her are three sons, Ronald Poland of Westernport, Paul Poland of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Terry Poland of San Francisco, Calif., three sisters, Hazel Coleman of Keyser, Irene Wiltison of Westernport and Jeanne Dunnigan of Baltimore, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At her request her body was cremated. Memorial services will be conducted at the Boal Funeral Home Chapel, Westernport, on Thursday, May 1, 2003, at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Midland, Md July 12 - Nettie Poland, aged 82, a lifelong resident of this county, died while visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lula Cashdollar, Turtle Creek, Pa.  Mrs. Poland was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McKenzie, pioneer settlers of Allegany county, and is survived by one son, Price Poland, of Midland, and two daughters, Mrs. Lulu Cashdollar, Turtle Creek, Pa., and Mrs. Lannie Cutter, of this place.  The body will, be brought to the home of her niece, Mrs. Ella McKenzie, Koontz avenue, here. Funeral services will be conducted at the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 p. m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Allegany Cemetery, Frostburg.

KEYSER - Mrs. D. Kathleen Poland, 46, of Pine Swamp Road, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, after an illness of six months. Born in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Harold R. and Delia (Roberts) Harrison. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Lonaconing. Surviving are her husband, Gibson A. Poland; two daughters, Miss Gayle Poland, home and Mrs. Gloria Howel, Keyser; her stepmother, Mrs. Alice (Smith) Harrison and one grandson. The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. A service will be conducted at the Keyser Assembly of God Church Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Charles E. Fussell and Rev. R. C. Lymburner will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow. The body will be taken to church at noon Saturday.

Born March 21, 1930, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Shockey and Ellen Adeline (Fazenbaker) Shockey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sloan Poland; two brothers, James Shockey and LeRoy Shockey; and one grandson, Robert Poland Jr. She was a member of the Allegheny Weslyan Methodist Church, Aliquippa, Pa. and the Bethel Holiness Pentecostal Church, Lonaconing. She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Rae Muir and husband Charles, of Frostburg and Cindy S. Spiker and husband Tom, of Lonaconing; four sons, Raymond S. Poland, of Georgetown, Pa., Barry S. Poland and wife Wanda, of Georgetown, Pa., Robert L. Poland of Aliquippa, Pa., and Gary Poland, of Anchorage, Alaska; 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Smith, of Lonaconing; three brothers, Calvin Shockey, of Lonaconing, Marvin "Huck" Shockey, of Lonaconing, and Gary Shockey of Lonaconing and numerous nieces and nephews. WESTERNPORT— Services for Miss Hazel Poland, a teacher at Bruce High School for many years, who died yesterday afternoon at her home, 145 Church Street, following a lingering illness, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. from St. James Church with the Rev. G. Stanley Schwind, rector, officiating. Interment will be i n Philos Cemetery. The body will remain at the home until the hour of the funeral. Miss Poland was born in Moscow and was the daughter of tbe late James Thomas and Nora (Guard) Poland. She attended Westernport High School. After teaching in Garrett county schools several years, she was an instructor at McCooL School. She taught at Hammond Street School from 1913 to 1927 when she transferred to Bruce. She'was a teacher there until last spring. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Westernport-Luke Civic Club. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Victor Kalbaugh, Luke, and Mrs. Lewis E. Harris, Westernport, and two brothers, Heber Poland, Westernport and Raymond Poland, Dayton, Ohio.

KEYSER, W.Va. - Marie H. Poland, 89, of Heartland of Keyser, Keyser, died May 15, 2006, at the nursing home. Born May 4, 1917, in Lonaconing, Md., she was a daughter of the late Henry William Worgan and Rebecca (Moore) Worgan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Worgan; and sister-in-law, Velma Worgan. Marie was the widow of Blaine McKenzie and Gibson Poland, who died Jan. 11, 2002. She was a member of The First Assembly of God Church, Lonaconing, Md., where she was a part of their Women's Missions and she was a former employee of Celanese Fibers Corp. Surviving are her step-children, Gloria Howell and husband Glenn, Keyser, W.Va.; and Gayle Kruk and husband Thomas, Ravenswood, W.Va.; and three grandsons, Gary G. Howell, Keyser; Corey Kruk, Ravenswood, W.Va.; and Andrew Kruk, Ravenswood; and several nieces and nephews. POLAND, Mrs. Mary Alice Hott

PIEDMONT - Mary Alice (Hott) Poland, 93, formerly of Piedmont, W.Va., and recently of the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, Md., was welcomed home by her Saviour Jesus Christ and reunited into the arms of her loving husband, Robert G. 'Bus" Poland. Together again, they will be able to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary on December 24 this year in Heaven. Born September 13, 1913, in Burlington, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Grover and Sadie (Snyder) Hott. When she was seven her family moved to Westernport where she attended Hammond Street School. Later in life she returned to live in Hammond Heights Apartments, the previous location of the school. On November 7, 2002, she moved to Egle Nursing Home after having heart attacks and strokes. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Stanley, John, Wilber, Leo and Elmer Hott; and three sisters, Audrey Marvelis, Salemia Walker, and Julia Mae Linkswiler. During her younger years, Mrs. Poland worked for West Virginia Pulp & Paper Company, Luke, Md., (now NewPage) until she left to be a dedicated mother. Mrs. Poland was a member of the Westernport Church of the Brethren in her younger years, but later became affiliated with Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Temple 8, Piedmont, for 58 years and was recently recognized with a pin and a certificate by the Grand Secretary of West Virginia. She leaves behind her son, Robert L. Poland and wife, Dolores, of Keyser, W.Va.; one grandson, Steve and wife, Wanda Poland, of Keyser; one granddaughter, Deborah (Poland) Clem and husband, Scott, of Jane Lew, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren, Robbie, Andrew and William of Keyser, and Brandon and Lauren of Jane Lew; a sister, Ida (Hott) Campbell of Westernport, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steffan Carr officiating, assisted by Pastor William Carr. POLAND, R. Heber

WESTERNPORT—R. Heber Poland, 60, manager of the Devon Club at Luke the past 30 years and long prominent in Western Maryland sporting circles, died suddenly early today at his home, 411 Maryland Avenue.  Mr. Poland worked as usual yesterday and appeared to be in his usual good health when he left the club at 10 o'clock last night.  Shortly after he had retired at midnight, his wife was disturbed by a slight noise and, turning on the light, found him unconscious.  He died before a doctor reached the home.  Mr. Poland became widely known in the 1930's as the promoter and matchmaker of amateur boxing shows and tournaments sponsored by the Devon Club.  He was also an ardent hunter and angler.  One of the organizers and charter members of the Westernport-Luke Lions Club, he was a native of Guard, Md., and a son of the late James Thomas and Norah Lillian (Guard) Poland.  He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Piedmont, and a partner in the Maybury-Poland Realty Company, Westernport.  Besides his wife, Mrs. Katherine (Crowe) Poland, he is survived by a daughter, Miss Mary Kay Poland, at home; a brother, Raymond Poland, Dayton, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Harris, Westernport.  The body is at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. by Rev. Robert E. Cassell, pastor of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Philos Cemetery.

Mt Savage - Mrs Sophia Poland, 77, widow to T Price Poland, died yesterday morning at her residence on Mt Savage Road.  She had been ill several weeks.  A daughter of the late John and Ellen Findlay Hinkle(Henckel), she was a charter member and past patron of Rebekah Arnold Chapter No 57 Order of Eastern Star.  Mrs Poland also belong to the Methodist Church.  Surviving are two sons, Harry and John Poland, Mt Savage; a sister, Mrs Elizabeth Barth, Dundalk; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.  The body is at the home.  Rites will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Mt Savage Methodist Church with Rev C W Hall, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in St George's Episcopal Cemetery.

Mt. Savage, Md., Oct. 15—Funeral services for T. Price Poland, 67, who died suddenly at his home Thursday morning, following an illness of several months, will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. G. D. Sampson will officiate. Interment will be in St. George's Protestant Episcopal Cemetery.  Mr. Poland was a son of the late Harrison and Lavlna Poland. He entered the service of the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad Company in November, 1890, and later became a locomotive engineer.  He retired November 1, 1929. He then built and operated what Is known as the Poland service station, Main street, now In charge of his sons.  He was a member of Scottish Rites Masons and of the Junior Order United American Mechanics.  Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sophia Henckel Poland, two sons, Harry and John Poland, at home, and three granddaughters, Dorthine Margaret and Janet Poland.

The funeral of Thomas Poland who died Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. took place Friday morning from the Methodist Episcopal church, Rev C H Southwick, pastor preached the sermon.  The pallbearers were: Thomas McFarlane, Charles Cutter, John Loar, James Albright, Salem Humbertson, Richard Cullen, John Hughes and Edward Miller; flowers carriers, Joseph Morton, Robert Russell and Hugh Muir. Interment was in McLuckie Cemetery, Frostburg.  Mr. and Mrs. Price Poland and, sons, Harry and John, of Mt. Savage, attended the funeral.

MEYERSDALE - Mrs. Armada E. Poleman, 88, widow of Floyd Poleman, died today at Meyersdale Community Hospital, where she had been a patient since last Wednesday. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of John and Sarah Reckner Durst. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church of New Germany. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Nora Towson, Mrs. Myrtle Ross, and Mrs. Della Shunk, all of Salisbury; Mrs. Gertrude Miller, Springs; and Mrs. Minnie Baker, of near Grantsville; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Germany on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Westcoal, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Baker, tomorrow morning.

 POLEMAN, Mrs. Bertha E. Chaney

Mrs. Bertha E. Poleman, 66, died this morning in Frostburg Community Hospital. Born in Avilton, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Linne (Layman) Chaney.  Her husband, Ira Poleman, preceded her in death. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, William Poleman, Kirtland, OH; five brothers, Harry Chaney, Ellis Chaney and Donald Chaney, all of Frostburg; Earl Chaney, LaVale; and Lee Chaney, Cresaptown; three sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Blocher, Frostburg; Mrs. Lula Smiley, Chula Vista, CA; Mrs. Ann Durst, Hopwood, PA.; and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Mrs. Sadie Triplett will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

FROSTBURG - William E. Poleman, 56, of Kirtland, Ohio, formerly of Frostburg, died Saturday, May 22, 1993, at Lake West Hospital, Willoughby, Ohio. Born April 18, 1937, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Ira H. Poleman and Bertha (Chaney) Poleman. Mr. Poleman was employed as a machinist at Curtis Industries, East Lake, Ohio. Surviving are two sons, James Poleman and William Lewis, both of Lake County, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Poleman and Susan Lewis, both of Lake County; and a special friend, Rosemary Satava, Lake County. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from noon to 1 p.m. Services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.

POLING, Leannah B.

Miss Leannah B. Poling died at her home in Baltimore, Friday morning, August 4, aged about 46 years. She was born and reared in Mineral County and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Polling. She leaves one brother, Mr. W. H. Poling, one of the prominent business men of Baltimore, and Mrs. Kate Dean, of Belaire, Md. A large number of her friends and relatives live in this county. Funeral services were held last Sunday and the body was buried in the Martinsburg cemetery where sleeps the sacred dust of her father and mother. Miss Poling was kind in her disposition and delighted in deeds of charity, from childhood she was a member of the M. E. Church, South, and always took a lively interest in its welfare, being well versed in its history and in touch with its modern movements.

Ney N. Poling, 62, of Cleveland, OH, and formerly of Preston County, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in Cleveland. He was born May 25, 1940, in Preston County, a son of the late Admiral and Florence Moats Poling. He was a laborer in the construction industry in Cleveland and Baltimore, MD. He is survived by his wife, Patty Albright Poling; a son, Norris N. Poling, of Cleveland; a brother, Donald Poling, of Kingwood; six sisters, Mildred Moats, of Cleveland, Gladys Runner, of Grafton, Georgia Mayne, of Baltimore, Melva Honeycutt, of Belington, Betty Poling, of Albright, and Viola Cummings, of Aurora; two grandchildren, Destiney and Neythan Poling. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Thomas Poling; and three sisters, Francis Beal1, Bernice Shipp and Iris Snyder. Friends were received at the Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Sunday, Nov. 3, and on Monday, Nov. 4 until the time of services with Charles Jackson officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Wheeler C. Poling, retired Celanese employe, who died Thursday of a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles F. Hare, 18 East Oldtown road, were held at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at the Stein funeral home. The Rev. S. R. Neel, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, officiated and interment was in Hillcrest burial park. FROSTBURG - Hilda "Janie" Pollock, 49, of 216 Shaw St., Frostburg, died March 9, 1998, at Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 15, 1948, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Buena (Robinson) Pollock. Ms. Pollock was a member of God's Ark of Safety Church, Frostburg. She formerly was employed at the Frostburg State University library, and she was a member of the Maryland Classified Employees Association. Surviving are one brother, Roger L. Pollock, Frostburg; a close friend, Jane Taylor, Wright's Crossing, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Services were held yesterday at the Hafer Funeral Home for Graham E. Poole, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad blacksmith's helper, who died Tuesday at his home, 105 Offutt St. Oscar B. Gerhart, of Seventh Day Adventist Church, officiated and burial was in Hillcrest Burial Park. Cumberland Lodge No. 271, Loyal Order of Moose, conducted a ceremony at the funeral home Wednesday night. Participating were Harry Lannon, governor; Joseph L. Wolfe, past governor, and Edward Roberts, prelate. Mrs. Adalene (Hite) Poorbaugh, 85, of Hyndman, died Monday, June 16, 1986, in Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland. She was born in Hyndman, May 28, 1901, a daughter of Isaac Hite and Wardie (Shaffer) Hite. Surviving are her husband, Norman B. Poorbaugh, whom she married December 1, 1918, and two daughters, Mrs. Telma Gilmore and Mrs. Betty Stuby, both of Hyndman. Five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Poorbaugh was a homemaker, member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Pride of Allegany Council #110 of Cumberland, past counselor of the council, and a member of the Hyndman Grange #1954. Funeral services: Thursday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman, with Rev. Harry E. Hull and Rev. Loyal W. Kelso officiating. Burial in Hyndman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hyndman Rescue Squad.

MEYERSDALE, Apr. 27 — Mrs. Alice Amanda Bowman Poorbaugh, 69, widow of S. W. Poorbaugh, former Somerset county commissioner, died Tuesday at her home in Northampton township near Glencoe, after an illness of several months. She was born in Somerset, a daughter of the late Joshua and Elizabeth Geiger Bowman, May 4 1869. She spent her entire life in the Glencoe section and was an active member of the Mt. Lebanon Reformed Church in Northampton township. Surviving are these children: Nellie, wife of Charles Keidel; Ida, wife of Charles Hartman; and Ruby, wife of Edward Hartman, all of Glencoe, R. D.; Pearl, wife of Charles Deist, Meyersdale, R. D.; Samuel Poorbaugh, Glencoe; Verna, wife of G. A. Delozier, Connellsville; and Elizabeth, wife of Earl Miller, Windber. She was a sister of Miss Susan Bowman, S. J. Bowman and G. J. Bowman, all of Glencoe. The funeral service will he held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Mt. Lebanon Reformed Church. Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Eliza Poorbaugh, wife of Foster Thomas Poorbaugh, died yesterday morning at her home at Derry following an illness of pneumonia. The body will be brought to Connellsville and from here shipped to Sand Patch by Funeral Director J. E. Sims, where funeral services will be held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Poorbaugh would have been 35 years old on the 29th of this month. She was a member of the Dunkard church and before her marriage was Miss Eliza Hostetler of Sand Patch, Somerset county. She was a member of the Dunkard church, and in addition to her husband, is survived by her parents and the following sisters: Ella Mae, Mrs. Francis Smith, Mrs. Irvin Bittner, Mrs. William Leyberger, Mrs. Frank Albright, and one brother, Harvey H. Hostetler, all of Somerset county.

FAIRHOPE, Pa. - Franklin Andrew Poorbaugh, 81, died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. A native of the Fairhope area, he was born November 14, 1889, a son of the late Uriah and Rose (Saylor) Poorbaugh. Mr. Poorbaugh was a retired farmer and retired sawmill employe. He was a member of the Lutheran Mt. Zion Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Florence (Clites) Poorbaugh; a daughter, Mrs. Laura Bullington, RD 1, Manns Choice; two sons, Frank Poorbaugh, RD 1, Fairhope, and Albert A. Poorbaugh, Murraysville, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Lafferty and Mrs. Margaret Logue, both of Berlin, and Mrs. Emma Miller, Somerset; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p. m. with Rev. Leroy Logsdon officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Harvey A. Poorbaugh of Roswell, N. M., formerly of Glencoe, died after an illness of several weeks. A former school teacher, he later became editor of The Johnstown Democrat. He moved to Roswell 52 years ago, and prior to that was the owner and operator of the Poorbaugh Printing Press in Roswell. Surviving are four children, 11 grandchildren, four brothers, including Thomas E. of Glencoe, Norman, of Hyndman, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Shipley, of Glencoe.

POORBAUGH, John Nevin

John Nevin Poorbaugh, 73, Corriganville, died Wednesday at Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Glencoe, Pa., he was a son of the late Henry McClennan Poorbaugh and Anna (Schiller) Poorbaugh. He was a retired farmer and real estate developer, and at one time was a miner. Mr. Poorbaugh was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ and for 47 years a member of the Consistory and was an elder emeritus. He was also a member of Local 3817 UMWA in District 4 and the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Company. Besides his widow, Mrs. Florence Margaret (Deist) Poorbaugh, three children survive: Anna Louise Stump, Roaring Spring, Pa.; Paul Albert Poorbaugh, and Mrs. Pauline Alverta LaFontaine, Orlando, Fla., who are twins; a brother, Ralph Andrew Poorbaugh, West Palm Beach, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Smith, Charleston, W. Va.; Mrs. Nettie Grace Deist, Glencoe, Pa.; Mrs. Mary Cleo Keefer, Akron; Mrs. Ada Margretta Hay, Tampa, Fla.; and Mrs. Mildred Alverta Naughton, Cumberland; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman. It will be taken to St. John's United Church of Christ, Corriganville, Sunday at 1 p.m. for a service at 3:15 p.m. Rev. John Klindt, pastor, will officiate, and interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, near Berlin.

POORBAUGH, Norman Bruce

MEYERSDALE, July 7 - Following an illness of uremic poisoning, Norman Bruce Poorbaugh of Northampton township, a prominent farmer and tax collector, died Saturday night at the Wenzel Hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks. Had he lived until October 26, he would have been 79 years old. Norman Bruce Poorbaugh was born and reared in Northampton township. In addition to his duties as tax collector and assessor for a number of years, he was also a member of the district school board, and he was an active member of the Mount Lebanon Reformed Church, having been an elder, deacon, trustee and Sunday School superintendent for many years. The deceased was married to Sarah Ellen Gladwell of near Garrett, who survives him, together with two sisters, Mrs. Melissa Boger of near Hays' Mills, and Mrs. Emma Bittner, of near Glencoe, and the following children: Harvey of Roswell, N. M. (formerly a Johnstown newspaperman; Jacob, at home; Earl, of Toledo, Ohio; Oscar, of near Johnstown; Norman, of Hyndman, Bedford Co.; Thomas, of Northampton township; Mrs. Mabel Shipley, of Connellsville; Charles, of California; Mrs. Frank Miller, of Glencoe; and Mrs. Nell McKenzie, of Mount Savage, Md. The funeral service was held this morning at the Mount Lebanon Reformed Church with Rev. J. B. Gindlesperger officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

MEYERSDALE, Feb. 27 - Mrs. Sarah Ellen Poorbaugh, 87, died Saturday evening at her home at Glencoe, R. D. The daughter of Louis and Tracy (Stahl) Gladwell, she was the widow of Bruce Poorbaugh who died July 4, 1931. Surviving are nine children, including Mrs. C. F. Shipley of Connellsville, 35 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Mount Lebanon Reformed Church. Burial will be made In the church cemetery.

MT. SAVAGE - Mrs. Teresa Poorbaugh. 72. wife of Earl Poorbaugh, died at her home here yesterday evening. She had been in ill health for some time. A native of Mt. Savage, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Lemmert) Collins and was a member of St. Palrick's Catholic Church. Surviving, besides her husband, are four daughters, Mrs. Gerald Wilhellm, Frostburg; Sister Mary Pacifica, Baltimore; Mrs. Elmer Clark, Mt. Savage, and Miss Alice Poorbaugh, at home; a son, Patrick Poorbaugh, Frostburg, and 11 grandchildren. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home, Froslburg, after 7 p. m. today. A requiem mass will be celebraled Monday at 9 a. m. at St. Palrick's Church by Rev. Michael Smyth, pastor, and interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Westernport, March 31 - Services for Arthur V. Pope, of 117 Main street, who died Tuesday at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, were held yesterday afternoon from the Church of the Brethren conducted by the Rev. Foster M. Bittinger, pastor. Interment was in the Pope family cemetery at Gorman. Pallbearers were Earl Kalbaugh, Howard Michaels, Lloyd Atkins, J. W. McGahn, Robert Groves, and R. W. Graham. POPE, David

David Pope, 91, retired farmer, died at his home near Guntertown on Saturday, January 5.  He was the son of the late Dorothy Fisher and Phillip Pope and was born February 22, 1854, at Wright's Crossing, near Frostburg. Mr. Pope moved to Garrett County at the age of eight years and resided on the same farm till his death.  He married Miss Elizabeth Bonig of Grantsville, who passed away several years ago. Five children were born to this union: Harry Pope, Grantsville; Mrs. Jesse Merrill, Avilton; Mrs. Cecil Michael and Mrs. Orville Crowe, both of Frostburg; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Pope was the last surviving member of his family, and was a member of the Grantsville Lutheran Church for 82 years.  Funeral services were held in Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Monday afternoon.  Rev. George Bowersox, assisted by Rev. Charles Sisk, officiated. The pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased patriarch - Glenn Durst, Robert and William Merrill, Kenneth Crowe, Scott and Harry Pope. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

SPRINGS, Pa. — Mrs. Emma Adeline Pope, 82, of Star Route, formerly of Star Route, Frostburg, died Wednesday in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on Jan. 10, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Winfield Scott and Edith Arietta (Dates) Blocher. Her husband, Herbert K. Pope, died April 28, 1979. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Pope was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Surviving are three sons, William Scott Pope, Cresaptown; Oliver David Pope, Aptos, Calif., and Harry Kenneth Pope, with whom she resided; 13 grandchildren, one step-grandchild and 20 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Route 40, Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Edward Myers. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services. The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Mount Zion Church Memorial Fund.

POPE, Mrs. Florence Miller

MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Mrs. Florence Pope, 60, wife of Harry W. Pope, died yesterday at her home here after an illness of three months. A native of Grantsville, Mrs. Pope had resided here since 1919. Her parents were the late Malin and Anna (Eichhorn) Miller. Surviving, besides her husband whom she married at Frostburg Md., in 1917, are three daughters, Mrs. Margret Romesburg, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Anna E. Starbard, Miss Florence Louise Pope, both of Alexandria, Va.; and four sisters, Mrs. Charles Buckle, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Norman Patton, Grantsville; Mrs. Carl VanHorn, Elyria, Ohio, and Mrs. Ernest Blacher, Akron, Ohio. Rites Wednesday at the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren; interment at Union Cemetery.

GRANTSVILLE — George L. Pope, 84, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Keating, Baltimore, after an illness of several days. A native of Garrett County, he was a son of the late Peter and Sarah (Michael) Pope. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and of Frostburg Moose Lodge. Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Janice Miller, Bolgerville, N. Y., and Mrs. Lula Bowman, Baltimore; two sons, Claude Pope, Salisbury, and Paul Pope, Baltimore; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home here, where services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p. m. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

POPE, Mrs. H. C.

HARDY COUNTY WV -   Mrs. H. C. Pope, who has been quite sick for some time, died at Davis last Thurday morning at 2 o' clock am. Funeral service was held there Friday and the remains were taken through here Saturday to Upper Tract, her former home, where the burial took place Sunday. A husband and two small children were left to mourn her death.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Calvin Romesberg, of Alexandria, Va.; Mrs. Warren Starbard, of Bethesda, Md.; Mrs. James Hanlon, Camp LeJeune, N. C.; a brother, Herbert Pope, Frostburg, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. Leota Crowe, Mrs. Minnie Merrill, and Mrs. Nettie Michael, all of Frostburg, and 10 grandchildren.

GRANTSVILLE - Mrs. Lois M. Pope, 45, of Star Route, Frostburg, died Sunday at the home of a sister, Mrs. Mary Minnick, Star Route, Barton, after a lingering illness. Born in Eckhart, she was a daughter of Hilary and Nellie (Lavin) Lancaster. Mrs. Pope was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary to the Clarysville Fire Company and Auxiliary to Cresaptown FOE 2883. Also surviving are her husband, Scott Pope; three sons, Robert Pope, Aldi, Va.; Francis Pope, Oxen Hill, and James Pope, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Pope, at home; five brothers, Charles Lancaster, Zihlman; Bruce and Herbert Lancaster, Frostburg; Ralph Lancaster, Follanbee, W. Va., and James Lancaster, Durham, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Erma Weimer, Middletown, Va.; and Mrs. Minnick. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home, here, where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. Cresaptown FOE Auxiliary will hold a memorial today at 7:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service by Clarysville Fire Auxiliary at 8 p.m. A service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chiklork officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

POPE, Mrs. Regina Loraditch

SALISBURY, PA - Mrs. Regina Pope, 64, died Tuesday at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born in Pocahontas, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Alice McKenzie Loraditch. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Avilton, and the Christian Wives and Mothers of the church. Surviving are her husband, Claude Pope; six sons, Rev. Benedict Pope, OFM Cap., Hayes, Ky.; James Pope, Gaithersburg, Md.; Eugene and Steven Pope, here; Earl Pope, Mt. Savage; and David Pope, with the Army in Germany; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Keating, Frostburg; three brothers, Bernard Loraditch, Cumberland; James and John Loraditch, of California; and 10 grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville. Requiem mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Frostburg, Md., Dec 3 - The funeral of Mrs Peter Pope, aged 74 years, who died Monday was held Wednesday afternoon from the Mt Zion Methodist Church on the National Road, six miles from here. Mrs Pope died from complications of old age. Aside from her husband and two children, she is survived by two brothers, Lewis C Michaels, Center St and Charles Michaels, LaVale; two sisters, Mrs William Hunter, this city and Mrs Clara L Boettner, Pittsburgh, Pa. Burial was in Mt Zion church cemetery.

— SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Susan Dora Popp, of Knobley Road, Short Gap, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her residence. Born Jan. 22, 1954, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Harry Francis and Evelyn (Johnston) Boore. Susan was a 1972 graduate of Bruce High School, and completed her Licensed Practical Nurse studies at Washington County Vocational Center. She was a member of Westernport United Methodist Church. She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Greg Popp; two daughters, Khristina Waters and husband James of Keedysville, and Kaci Tiller and husband Nathan of Aberdeen; four grandchildren, Nick Waters, Dorian Tiller, Evelyn Tiller, and Jackson Tiller. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Sears of Spotsylvania, Va., and Jean Marsh and husband Jim of Westernport. Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m., with Assistant Pastor Jack Harrison officiating. WESTERNPORT, Md. - Virginia 'Faye" Popp, 80, of 231 Greene St, Westernport, Md., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at her home. Born January 14, 1926, in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Delos Bernard and Virginia Wilkinson (Ott) Ours. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Popp; and a daughter, Virginia Kaye Morris. Faye was a retired registered nurse, having worked the majority of her career at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va. She also worked at Moran Manor Nursing Center, Westernport. Faye was a graduate of Piedmont High School and a graduate of Allegany Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport. She enjoyed crafts, baking and sewing. She will be deeply missed. She leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth 'Faye" Morris, of Westernport, who was her caregiver; four sons, Charles and wife, Patty, of Waukegan, Ill., Kevin Popp of Winchester, Va., Greg and wife, Susie, of Short Gap, W.Va., and Gary and wife, Tammy, of Keyser; one sister, Susie Gannon of Westernport; and one brother, Dallas Ours of Springfield, W.Va. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Dorsett and Dana Morris Jr., both of Westernport, Charlie Hartman of Short Gap, Trent Morris and Zack Morris, both of Westernport, Kevin Popp Jr. and Danielle Popp, both of Winchester, Kristie Waters of Hagerstown, Md., Kaci Popp of Short Gap, Lynn Marie Wellings of Lonaconing, Md., Chuck Popp and Rob Popp, both of Waukegan, Hannah Popp, Kristen Popp, Jesse Clarke, Jenny Popp and Charles Popp, all of Keyser; two special friends, Francis 'Sket" Gardine, and Elmo, her beloved cat; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
